Wearing heels can elevate your look and boost your confidence, but the discomfort often associated with them can be a real drawback. Here are five ways to make wearing heels more comfortable and keep reading below where I will also share some inserts for heel comfort, so you can strut your stuff without the pain.

Choose the Right Size and Fit

The first step to comfort is ensuring your heels fit correctly. Shoes that are too tight can cause blisters and cramping, while loose shoes can lead to instability and discomfort. Measure your feet regularly, as sizes can change over time. Opt for a snug fit that secures your foot without squeezing it. These are some of my favorite designer heels. They are a bit pricey, but worth it to have a quality and trendy shoe that’s actually comfortable on my foot.

Use Shoe Inserts

Shoe inserts for heel comfort can be a game-changer for heel wearers. These inserts provide extra cushioning and support where you need it most. Gel inserts are particularly popular as they reduce pressure on the balls of your feet, providing a softer landing with each step. Arch supports can also help distribute your weight more evenly, alleviating some of the strain that high heels place on your feet.

Gradually Increase Heel Height

If you’re not used to wearing heels, start with a lower heel and gradually work your way up. This allows your feet to adapt slowly, building the necessary muscles and tolerance over time. Kitten heels or block heels are great starting points as they offer more stability and are generally easier to walk in than stiletto heels. The block heels I’m featuring in the above image are from ZARA, one of my go to places for heels that are not only on trend, but also affordable and often, comfortable!

Stretch Your Feet and Legs

Stretching before and after wearing heels can help maintain flexibility and reduce muscle fatigue. Focus on your calves, ankles, and the arches of your feet. Simple exercises like ankle circles, calf raises, and toe stretches can make a big difference in how your feet feel at the end of the day. Honestly, I don’t stretch nearly as often as I should and that’s totally on me. Don’t be like me, haha! 🙈

Take Breaks

Whenever possible, give your feet a break. If you’re at an event, find moments to sit down and take the pressure off your feet. If you’re at work, consider bringing a pair of flats or comfortable shoes to switch into periodically. These breaks can prevent long-term discomfort and potential foot issues.
