In light of my last post where I discussed my bullying/teasing experiences in depth, I wanted to touch on another subject, self-esteem. Though they’re different topics, they definitely go hand in hand to a certain degree, but there are so many other ways one’s self-esteem can be tarnished. When it comes to this subject, Dove definitely comes in right on time with their Self-Esteem Project at Kroger, helping young people like myself build their self-esteem though educational resources and programs! Its Mission is aimed help to young people overcome any body image or confidence issues, further educating them on the importance of self-esteem. If only I had this resource when I was in grade school!
Now as you probably mustered from my previous post, I haven’t always had the highest self-esteem, especially with being one of those who started getting picked on at an early age. Even today I still struggle with trying to keep it boosted, especially being to prevalent on social media and having everyone in my personal life and telling me how they think I should live. There are still times I get teased about certain things, one of the main things being my deep voice. Though it used to highly irritate me, I have learned to embrace it and be grateful that I’m even able to speak when there are others who aren’t as fortunate.
One other thing I have been teased about in my youth years was being too skinny. Now body confidence is a daily struggle in our society, whether it’s someone being skinny or fat shamed. It’s just come to a point of being entirely unacceptable. We must learn to be confident in and with our own bodies, regardless of how anyone else feels. I am thankful for brands like Dove who support body confidence, as well as building self-esteem through their amazing project! On their website, they even offer resources in raising confident children, ways to nurture self-image and so many other ways to boost and maintain high self-esteem. Definitely have a look when you get a moment!

This is so commendable! For a brand like Dove, that’s worth appreciating. I also struggled with being teased for being skinny but god enough, I have a ton of self esteem and now all who teased me want to slim up! How ironical!
I am happy I saw this, I haven’t used dove hair products yet but only skin so this is definitely on the list to try it out.
I just love DOVE. Not only do their products smell AMAZING – but they always have such great messaging in their advertising!

Self esteem is really important, and I’ve been learning how to build it up for some time. I love Dove Products as they can really help to feel better after using them. 😉
I have used Dove products for years and to hear that they are taking part in a self-esteem projects really makes me want to support their brand even more. I never knew you struggled with self-esteem issues. But you’re right, being prevalent on social media definitely opens us up to a lot. Thank you Dove for noticing this and doing something about it!
I love how you discuss these issues openly. I am so glad to see big brands that share the same values as me. I will look for them next time I run out of the products I am currently using.
Building self-esteem is definitely a process!! I’m glad the DOVE brand has started this program – it’s great for young people who have a harder time with self-esteem. I remember struggling with this all throughout my youth. I hope many can benefit from this program!!
Building and boosting self-esteem should start inside our home. When our parents are supportive on what we do, it improves our self-esteem and gives us assurance that we are doing good.
Dove is my homegrown haircare brand.
I love using Dove products! Their dry spray is everything!`
I have always heard such great things about Dove products, but I don’t use them often. I’ll have to try these out, thanks for sharing!
