Being older and yearning for not only memorable, but also intentional experiences I can enjoy with my family, I find myself wanting to explore destinations that have more purpose. Although I have traveled to Europe and Asia, I haven’t taken the opportunity to explore much of North America, especially where Mexico is concerned. In fact, my very first trip was this past May where my daughter and I took a Mommy/Mini cruise. It was in that moment that I realized I needed to actually visit the country. Imagine my surprise when I got the invite to experience Isla Mujeres, an island just off the coast of Cancún. Not only this, but I was to experience the gorgeous Coco B Isla in Isla Mujeres, a luxury, Caribbean sanctuary centered around wellness and tranquility. It was the perfect destination to truly experience the country for the first time.
In my everyday life, I pride myself on being a 80/20 crunchy mama and for those that are unfamiliar with the term, it’s in a nutshell, a mom that takes a more holistic and natural approach to parenting. Well the villas of Coco B are centered around this, offering well beyond your typical holiday destination. On the property, there are 4 villas available for your choosing: Lola, Encantada, Coco, and Cielo.
We actually stayed at Casa Coco, which was far superior to my expectations. Yes, I was expecting luxury, but each portion of my stay was meticulously planned and all the staff was on the same page with everything. There wasn’t any chaos or disorganization throughout my stay, which was much appreciated, traveling with a toddler and trying to work simultaneously.
I mentioned earlier about Coco B being centered around wellness. Their mission is to deliver inspirational whole-health integrative wellness in a fun, relaxing, beautiful, and restorative environment. I can say without a shadow of a doubt, that was my entire experience during my stay. The sound bath session I took during my stay was probably one of the times I’ve been the most relaxed in the 2 years of being a mom. The environment was serene, being outdoors on the rooftop terrace with the most incredible view, and the energy exuded from the instructor was amazing!
This class is one of the many retreat opportunities available on the property. From yoga, to fitness, culinary and wellness, corporate wellness, or women’s retreats, Coco B is the ideal destination to plan your luxury group retreat. It was actually named the Best Island Retreat Center in the Americas by Lux Life Magazine in 2020!
Another villa on the property I was able to tour was Casa Lola. It’s the newest and most coveted, with 7 suites and a rooftop terrace with 360-degree views of the Caribbean Sea.
Now onto my personal favorite highlight of the trip, the food. Coco B actually sources their food locally and seasonally, supporting local farmers and reducing the carbon footprint associated with transporting goods. They also offer personal chef services from breakfast to dinner, without ever having to leave your villa and yes, dietary restrictions are accommodated, which was definitely appreciated with my daughter’s and my multiple allergies!
Aside from ingredients and food quality, my palate requires flavor, being from Louisiana. Each dish I consumed was perfectly seasoned, plated beautifully, and best of all healthy. It only added to my experience of being relaxed, having the convenience of quality meals prepared according to all of my family’s preferences. I’ll now give you the opportunity to preview just a small portion of the endless possibilities of meals Coco B Villas offers! 😁
This was a sample toddler meal my daughter got to enjoy. Freshly prepared food that isn’t processed is what my family is all about and her meals were made with love and were hearty and flavorful just like ours!
I should quickly note that I usually am not a fan of watermelon. When I was first introduced to the idea of my vegan steak being prepared with watermelon, I was not impressed and was not looking forward to sampling. However, I was wildly shocked at what my palate experienced. It had a meaty flavor, almost resembling the taste of meat rather than the watermelon I was dreading. This was not only creativity on the chef’s behalf, but it also ended up being one of my favorite dinners on my holiday!
This was another one of my daughter’s yummy meals, completely allergen friendly!
Did I also mention it being my daughter’s 2 year old birthday during our trip? I only briefly mentioned it to the staff and we were delighted by this lovely surprise at dinner. It was dye and allergen free, just as we’d come to expect from all of our meals. The attention to detail in every dish by the chefs was greatly appreciated!
Each itinerary is fully customizable at Coco B, including the opportunity to attend a culinary retreat. During our stay, we had the pleasant opportunity to experience a cooking class that highlighted fresh and organic local ingredients!
We did get the opportunity to experience local cuisine out on the town, but truly my favorite food was enjoyed on the property of Coco B. There was just overall less hassle and a lot more convenience having everything on site!
Visiting Coco B Villas was undoubtedly a pivotal moment in my journey to discovering new quality properties that not only center around luxury and relaxation, but also quality food, exceptional service, and alignment with my personal lifestyle and likemindedness. It is a place I highly recommend you experience at least once. You are guaranteed to depart refreshed and well nourished, mind, body, and soul.

This place was truly an unforgettable experience. The service from the employees makes this place extraordinary. They really went out of their way to make sure we didn’t want for anything. Transportation was top tier. I felt at home away from my home. The food, rooms, and property were outstanding. Everything we needed was there. I’ve got to get back to this place. 10 stars ⭐️
