*I was recently hosted at Angeline’s in exchange for media coverage. All opinions, taste buds and thoughts are my own.
While in Charlotte a few weeks ago with the Belk team, I was given the opportunity to try the brunch menu at the downstairs restaurant at my hotel, Angeline’s. I had actually previously eaten dinner the night before with Belk and was provided the opportunity to try their brunch menu the next morning for The Beauty Beau business. With breakfast being my favorite meal of the day to begin with, you know I jumped at the chance to review Angeline’s!
Though I’m a Louisiana girl and we love to drink, I usually skip alcohol whenever I go to brunch. I know, I know. To be honest, brunch is more like breakfast to me, meaning…I usually opt for breakfast foods and overlook the lunch haha. If I could eat breakfast all day, I would!
For beverages at Angeline’s, I opted for my usual black coffee with honey and I also tried the fresh squeezed Beets Me juice. The restaurant happened to be out of beets for this drink, but even with the rest of the ingredients…carrots, parsley and horseradish, it was still delicious!
Another tradition I like to adopt is to try the Avocado Toast wherever I go because none of them are created equally! It was so delicious and flavorful, even with the Fried Prosciutto left off. If you happen to eat meat, I’m sure it would be just as good! What I appreciated was the light sprinkle of sea salt on the top. It added a nice kick of flavor to the toast!
My next dish of choice was the Orange Ricotta Semolina Pancakes. They did come with syrup on the side rather than on top, but I added mine on top for photo purposes. Before this day, I have always enjoyed standard buttermilk or whole wheat pancakes, never with any filling inside. I was kind of skeptical about trying these at first because I am very particular about my pancakes lol. When I tell you these pancakes will change your life, believe me. They have the slightest hints of sweetness and citrus, that aren’t overpowering. They still taste like pancakes, with a little kick. I need them to sell me this recipe so I can make these at home. So let me reiterate…you do not want to skip these!
My friend Odette came along to Charlotte with me and ordered the Two Eggs Any Style and was also very pleased with her meal. She said it was small, yet filling. I did taste the rosemary potatoes and they were delicious! I’ve never seasoned my potatoes with rosemary, but I will now have to try it in the future!
Being the pesto queen I am, I knew I couldn’t miss trying the Eggs Benedettina, which comes on Grilled Ciabatta, with Prosciutto di Parma, Shaved Parmesan, Confit Tomato and Basil Pesto Hollandaise. Of course I left off the prosciutto, but I honestly didn’t miss it! This dish was definitely a great way to experience eggs benedict for the first time. The best way I can describe it, is that it’s like a breakfast salad on steroids. Also, no worries on the cook of the eggs on top; you can request them well done in the middle! 😁
It was overall amazing experience dining at Angeline’s for brunch, especially being the day I left Charlotte. It was a great feeling leaving satisfied and happy from having a delicious departure away. I seriously didn’t want to leave! The service was amazing, food was incredible and the atmosphere was really relaxing and chill. No matter your age group or diet, you are sure to find something to enjoy. I felt really welcomed here being a pescatarian and will be sure to drop back in the next time I’m in Charlotte, which I’m sure will be very soon! You can check out their menu here, and in Charlotte, NC downstairs at the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel at 303 S. Church Street; Charlotte, NC 28202.
