I have heard about microwaveable popcorn not being so good for you and rather than listening to that, I kept eating it anyway. I honestly trying to hear it because of how much I love it. More recently, I began seriously reading into it and eventually decided to quit buying it. There’s always more than one way to skin a deer though. Rather than eliminating popcorn completely, I bought a popcorn popper. I actually like this method better because not only is it healthier, but I can control the flavors a lot easier. I have been experimenting nonstop with flavors and recently came up with chili powder and lemon pepper variation. I used BetterBody Foods Avocado Oil to pop the kernels in. Keep reading to see exactly how I prepared it!
You Will Need
For the process of actually popping the popcorn and the amount, you’ll want to follow the specific instructions of the model you have, replacing any mention of oil with the BetterBody Foods Avocado Oil. I am actually using a Presto model, which I found at my local department store. As far as the dry seasonings, you’ll want to add those at the very end for a better result.
Once you have popped your popcorn according to the instructions, you can add in your dry seasonings. I start with the chili powder first. Since I prefer a stronger chili taste, I am pretty heavy handed! Once you add that in, follow with your lemon pepper! Keep in mind, if your lemon pepper already contains sodium, then no additional popcorn salt is needed.
Garnish with a bit of parsley, for color and additional flavor!
