Not sure if you’ve noticed before now, but I generally steer clear from mixing prints. Not that I’m a wuss or anything (okay, maybe I am), but the thought of it has always freaked me out up until now. Well clearly I’ve been missing out because I am obsessed with the way this turned out!
Though it may be a bit daring for some, I’ve found the simplest way to mix prints is to keep one of the prints neutral. This can be in the form of not only gingham, but also leopard, zebra and other simple prints. I balanced the look with complementing accessories. I think that helped it out too. So, what do you think…pass or fail?! I can joke about that now that I’m well past undergrad and grad school. Had you asked me this during finals week…not funny!

I think you got it right!!!!! The black and white plaid shirt balanced the entire outfit out so it looks great. I love the hat and accessories too. Definitely an A+!! Now keep it going!!
Loved this look, especially how you styled it with the swimsuit <3
I think you perfectly balanced out the teal colors with the simple black and white jacket. Sometimes I’ll second guess myself too when it comes to mixing prints, but you actually stand out more which is better!

Happy Week
I am the same, I tend to leave mixing prints alone, though when I was working as a costume designer, I used to do that for my characters all the time. Maybe I should think about it some more as well.

You nailed the print mixing girl! I struggle with this too, but I think if you find the right one. it just clicks and work as you said earlier. Those prints seriously go really well together tho. I really love it!! You should do it more often. 🙂
