TRAVEL: La Cantera Resort & Spa

As you may have seen on my Instagram, I recently got the opportunity to visit La Cantera Resort & Spa in Hill Country, otherwise known as San Antonio, TX. To be honest, this resort has been on my pretty lengthy list of resorts to visit, especially with it being in my resident state. I jumped at the chance to visit with my fiancé this past week and was thoroughly impressed with everything that was offered on site!

La Cantera Resort & Spa is a part of the Destination Hotels collection, which is a collection of luxury and upscale independent resorts and hotels. Destination Hotels has more than 40 properties in the United States! La Cantera Resort & Spa is a family-friendly escape destination, sitting atop 550 acres of Texas Hill Country. Though it is a family friendly resort, there is very special attention given to adults in more than one way (more on that later)! The resort also has 34 Villas, in which guests have their own reception, fireplaces, flat-screen TVs, private pool and hot tubs!

RECEPTION LOBBY/WAITING AREA

Upon walking through the front doors to check-in, I was immediately greeted by this gorgeous lobby, which reminds me of home, especially being from the South. It had a very modern, yet Southern feel. I didn’t want to leave! I actually ended up realizing I was in the wrong place after a few moments. I mentioned earlier that there are certain places within the resort that cater to adults-only. Well La Cantera happens to have an adult-only floor called SEVEN, on the 7th floor ironically. Turns out they have their own private check-in. It was such a pleasant and quick experience and really made Keshaun and I feel special knowing we were being given special treatment just for being adults!

SEVEN

Floor 7, or SEVEN has 46 rooms with king-sized beds, Nespresso coffee, an Amazon Echo personal assistant, and Aromatherapy Associates London toiletries. It’s the perfect place of choice for quiet time away from kids and a more private experience! There is even an adult-only pool area, which I will of course show you later!

At check-in at SEVEN, I was immediately greeted by smiling SEVEN ambassadors and a glass of champagne, though they also offer lattes, expressos and cappuccinos. As you can see from the photos above and below, there is a whole kitchen, bar and lounge area dedicated to serving adults. Aside from having adult-only amenities, La Cantera also focuses on providing similar experiences to kids. There are several options for kids on the property including but not limited to: an arcade space, Kid’s Club, video games and a Kid’s Spa area!

POOLS

On its property La Cantera Resort & Spa has 5 pools, 1 of which is adults-only, which is the infinity pool. The one shown above is for all ages!

Beginning June 7th, La Cantera Resort & Spa will have their popular sunset adult pool parties on Thursday nights until August 9th. Aside from providing incredible experiences to remember, these parties help benefit local charities. You get to sip on summer cocktails and enjoy live music and a DJ, all while enjoying stunning views. Naturally guests have to be 21 and up and tickets are $30 in advance, which includes valet parking. Cabanas are also available on site to rent!

SIGNATURE RESTAURANT

My first night, I had the pleasure of dining at the fine dining restaurant on the property, Signature, which is inspired by Chef Andrew Weissman. The menu has some of the finest ingredients, including local and organic options! Let’s not forget about the beautiful decor inside. Just take a quick peek for yourselves!

SWEETFIRE KITCHEN

For breakfast, Keshaun and I got to enjoy SweetFire Kitchen. We dined indoors one morning and outdoors the next. Both options are just as gorgeous and the food absolutely delicious!

Both Keshaun and I got omelets, mine with avocado of course. I also can’t get over the potatoes that came along with them. They were so good that I ended up not only eating mine, but also Keshaun’s! 😏

LOMA DE VIDA SPA & WELLNESS

Also during my stay, I received a 60 minute massage spa treatment at Loma de Vida Spa. Let me first tell you about the spa; it is a 25,000 square foot indoor and outdoor sanctuary that overlooks the resort. Their treatments focus on holistic, meditative, restorative and complete relaxation. They include a nice mix of Texas and European influences. It was truly an experience to remember and I have never been in a spa this nice. The indoor space alone is 17,000 square feet with 15 treatment rooms, 2 couples’ suites and two Sky Lofts. I didn’t spend nearly enough time here as I should have!
