You could call this my first official natural hair tutorial. Exciting, right? I know a lot of you have been dying for me to begin posting these because maybe you’ve just done the big chop yourselves and need guidance. Or, you just want to be nosy. Either way, my tips are bound to help someone in need. By now, you should know I’m lazy and don’t like to do a lot of labor when it comes to my hair. After all, that’s why I steered clear of going natural for a while. I then realized, if I don’t like it, that’s what wigs are for and also, I should embrace what God gave me and not embrace how the media thinks black women’s hair should look. No shade, I promise. I mean, I was relaxed for nearly 19 years lol. Just my thoughts on why I went natural in the first place.
Today, I will be sharing my wash ‘n go hair tutorial using the Miss Jessie’s MultiCultural Clear hair gel! I did perform the LOC method (leave in, oil and cream) for this look. Reference the video above for more info on this and on how I achieved an effortless, everyday look. I used the hair gel in place of the cream. I tend to use gels and creams interchangeably depending on the look I’m going for. Just make sure that hair is well moisturized underneath!
Here’s what Miss Jessie’s had to say about their Multicultural Clear (credit to Miss Jessie’s):
Miss Jessie’s Multicultural Clear ™ is the perfect light weight gel for your unique blend of multi-textured waves and curls. We know that you love Miss Jessie’s Multicultural Curls styling lotion because it gives your wavy and curly hair just the right amount of hold without being too heavy or too light. Miss Jessie’s Multicultural Clear is a gentle styling product that also delivers that perfect balance but in gel form. Miss Jessie’s Multicultural Clear is a quick drying gel formulated for an ultra smooth spread that will define your waves and curls and leave them super soft and crunch-free. Other gels can be too heavy and make your hair look weighed down and stringy. Who wants that? Instead, try Miss Jessie’s Multicultural Clear for frizz-free shinny and glossy curls and waves. You can’t go wrong when you go with Miss Jessie’s –the expert in curls, kinks, and waves!
I can attest to the fact that the gel is very lightweight and I didn’t experience any kind of hardening of my hair…which is awesome! For my particular hair texture, more is more. I didn’t use a crazy amount and I still had definition, but I do prefer an even more defined look.
Product usage instructions (credit to Miss Jessie’s):
Evenly distribute a capful or more to damp, freshly washed, conditioned and detangled hair. Spread “your” just right amount until you have good coverage. Make sure you scrunch the hair to encourage curl. To dry: either use a diffuser attachment to dry the hair or air dry and GO! To refresh curl, dampen hair and apply a capful or more of Multicultural Clear ™ and repeat steps above.
Again, I could have used more lol. As mentioned earlier, before applying this product, my hair was freshly washed, detangled and oiled down to the roots. If your hair is longer, feel free to diffuse your hair! I went with the simple wash and go technique. See video above for how I styled my TWA.
